An opportunity has arisen to join a transforming Technical Packaging Team. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to provide technical packaging expertise to design and develop future proofed, sustainable packaging solutions to lead growth, innovation productivity, and cost and network optimisation objectives.

We require an individual to who can support key projects that require packaging design and development.

In your role as Packaging Designer/ Technologist, you will be part of our success by:

  • Designs, develops, defines and deploys future proof, leading edge sustainable Packaging solutions

  • Supports multiple packaging projects and programs to generate cost, network or customer benefits whilst ensuring that the packaging is compliant with all relevant food safety requirements & quality standards.

  • Helps to analyse data and applies statistical methodologies to establish recommendations

  • Supports plant trials and testing to validate recommendations

  • Reports findings, communicates risks and develops solutions

  • Attends regular meetings to update project teams, escalate challenges and ensure timelines are accurate

  • Ensures the Product Development system is correctly used to establish accurate product data and specifications

  • Maintains & develops customer and supplier relationships

  • Supports other members of the team in the execution of their projects

  • Follows all Kellogg’s processes for packaging & product design

  • Demonstrates troubleshooting and problem solving skills

  • Researches and reports on future changes in packaging

  • Delivers all projects on time and to budget and manage the smooth handover of projects from one area to another


At Kellogg, we emphasise on recruiting the best people to help grow our business and build on our successes. To be considered for this position, you must be able to demonstrate the following

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors of Science or equivalent in Packaging, Product design, Engineering or related technical field

  • At least 2 years demonstrable experience acting as a technical expert in Packaging and/ or design

Technical competencies:

  • Shows understanding of packaging components and materials used to produce packaging structures in routine and complex projects. This includes knowledge of the manufacturing processes used, and how they impact barrier and/or other physical properties

  • Shows a understanding of packing line equipment machinery commissioning& FATs, line performance, performance standards

  • Able to demonstrate troubleshooting and problem solving skill

  • Clear understanding of packaging specifications, data requirements, sustainability, packaging waste regulations, and quality requirements & associated packaging legislation.

Leadership, communication & other capabilities that are needed for this role:

  • A clear and concise communicator with the ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently

  • Show high levels of pro-activity and excellent achievement drive

  • Highly diligent

  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic with a positive approach

  • Possess strong rapport-building abilities with negotiation and influencing skills

  • Is logical, pragmatic & process driven with the ability to think fast and adapt

  • Excellent time and project management skills with a winning mindset


  • Based at Media City, Manchester with travel to be expected up to 30% of the time. Travel requires working outside of normal business hours including weekends and includes the UK & Europe.

  • Travel to, and work in, manufacturing or test facilities are an integral part of this role.

  • This role requires working in a food manufacturing environment.

  • Flexibility and prioritisation are required for this role.
